Introduction
This website was originally created to highlight a several projects
made from recycled pallets. Those projects and more can be found on the
projects page.
All content on the site has an emphasis on small shop woodworking.
My shop is limited to a two car garage. In addition to my tools my
garage also hold two cars every night, so space is a real premium for
me. I live in Southern
California, and I do not know a single person that has all the space
they need for their woodworking. With this in mind you might find a
tilt toward space saving ideas and techniques on my site.
Sharpening
Hand tools can make all the difference in your work. Precise refinement are possible with hand tools that power tools cannot replicate. Some tools require practice to master, other tools like a chisel are easy to use and provide instant gratification. Most hand tools require sharpening to be truly useful. When a tool is truly sharp it is a pleasure to use, however a dull tool can be a truly frustrating experience.
For almost any woodworker sharpening skills are invaluable. There is
plenty of information on sharpening on the web, but I am still adding
my two cents. In the TIPS section
of the website I have put together a list of how I sharpen my tools and
what I use to sharpen them. I also go into a little detail on how to
maintain my sharpening equipment.
About Reviews
- Objective Reviews
- I consider my reviews to be very objective. I am not given any
products to review, everything I review I have generally bought
and used. I might slip in a comparative review friends equipment
from time to time. Most importantly I have no potential revenue tied to
my reviews. If I give a product a bad review, it will not lead to a
loss of advertising dollars. My main goal is to spread word of mouth on
good and bad products, and to provide someone with a little more
information prior to their next purchase.
- Subjective Reviews
- Hopefully I convinced you that my reviews are objective and
trustworthy, however they will also be slightly subjective.
Because I am reviewing "my stuff" I can't compare like items. So I
might think something is great, but there could be something out there
that out performs it hands down. I can only review what I can use.
Scrap Pile
If you have pictures of your projects made from pallets or
other recycled material let me know. I am creating a gallery
to post other peoples work. You can see what I have so far here.
I would also like to hear your ideas on any small shop subject. I can be reached via email.
